DIFFERENT SHOT TYPES

Image
As part of our preliminary brief, we have to demonstrate match on action, shot/reverse shot and the 180-degree rule in our filming task. Due to this, I've decided to give definitions and examples of all 3 shots to give you an idea of what kind of shots will be happening in the preliminary task, enjoy! MATCH ON ACTION  Matching on action  refers to film editing and video editing techniques where the editor cuts from one shot to another view that matches  the first shot's action . This is an example of match on action from a scene in Friends! Match on action is very useful for adding a sense of realism to the scene as well as showing the audience that it has all been filmed in one take (continuity shot).  SHOT/REVERSE SHOT  Shot reverse shot is a film technique where one character is shown looking at another character (often off-screen), and then the other character is shown looking back at the first character. PRELIMINARY TASK

Below is a 20 second, mini thriller opening we created as a group. Enjoy!

VARIETY OF CAMERA SHOTS

I like this because even though it captions my facial expression/emotions, both the berries and background landscape are still focused on.  SHOT THREE After eating the poisonous berries, I begin to hallucinate in this long shot. This is effective because all of my body is in the picture but a lot of the location is too.  SHOT FOUR AND FIVE... The ne...

WELCOME

Hello everyone, welcome to my first ever blog post! After studying Media Studies at GCSE, I took a further interest into it which led me to this blog! One of my unhealthy hobbies is watching TV shows and films but I would love to understand how much work is put into filming them.  My first task is to create a 2 minute thriller film opening, which as a thriller film lover, I'm rather excited for. I'm looking forward to creating the narrative for it as there's so much tension and excitement in thrillers which makes a more interesting story line.  Hopefully this has lured you into keeping an eye out for my future posts and also for my final 2 minute film opening.  Bye for now!
